Executive Overview & Regulatory Context
Roughly 35% of the social compliance audit PDFs sent by trading companies on B2B directories are doctored, expired, or belong to an unrelated sub-contractor.
If you are pitching major retailers (Target, Walmart, Carrefour) or licensing branded IP, submitting a fraudulent audit will get your vendor account permanently blacklisted.
Here is how to verify factory audits in 60 seconds:
- amfori BSCI Audits:
- Ask the factory for their BSCI DBID (Database Identification Number). A real manufacturer can invite you to link accounts on the official amfori Sustainability Platform. If they only send a flattened PDF without a 6-digit DBID, be suspicious.
- SEDEX SMETA 4-Pillar:
- Real audits carry a SEDEX Site ID (e.g., ZC...) and a verifiable audit reference number registered on Sedex Advance.
- Disney FAMA (Facility and Merchandise Authorization):
- Look for the official alphanumeric Facility ID (e.g., W128-...). You can verify directly with Disney's International Labor Standards (ILS) team.
Legitimate export alliances anchor these audit numbers directly into public blockchain or digital product passport ledgers for instant verification.
